I received my new ONA Brooklyn chestnut camera bag earlier this week. I’ve been drooling over this bag for a year now and finally made it happen. It’s a great looking satchel modeled after the 1940’s school bags which I love. First impression – Amazing! Unpacking out of the box I was in awe of the serious beauty of this shoulder bag. This bag is perfect in every regard and the full grain leather is gorgeous! ONA has top notch products, I already own the ONA Bowery and love the leather, the look, the ease of use of that smaller model.
So, my reason for purchasing the ONA Brooklyn was the need of a deeper bag than the Bowery. I absolutely adore the smaller Bowery and use it on most all family, high school senior and engagement shoots. It fits 2 to 3 lenses, (usually my 35L, 85 1.8) and my accessories just fine. I needed the deeper bag for wedding photography so I could carry my Sigma 70-200 in my bag during the day instead of having to go to my bigger rolling back I usually keep in the back of the church or venue.
I used it during my last wedding and found it very comfortable, never too bulky and easy to grab lenses out of the bag. I can carry three lenses including the taller 70-200 and my flash in this bag without any problems. I can also carry my extra camera body and two lenses if needed. My normal routine is to always have my camera in hand and just go to my shoulder bag for lenses and flash. The front pocket is where I keep extra batteries, additional CF cards and any other incidentals. The nice back pocket easily holds my business cards and other handouts. This could easily hold a tablet too. This bag is slim, deep enough and absolutely stunning!
The leather is soft, helping to keep it from feeling bulky as I wear it. The three soft dividers are customizable and removable so this will also make the perfect shoulder bag when meeting with clients. The uses are endless! The bag is sturdy yet easy to change around depending on your needs on any given day. It looks and feels amazing ~ I am thrilled with my new purchase! We will see over time how it looks and wears but I have a good feeling it will only get better with age. If you have been thinking about the ONA Brooklyn, go for it! You won’t regret it.
Enjoy the images below, I tried to include as much detail as possible. If you have any questions I’d be happy to answer them for you.
